Lorraine has been a college roommate and dear friend of my older sisters, and consequently a dear friend of mine and an adopted member of our family. That makes Aaron our “adopted” brother-in-law!
I will share a special memory of their family that touched me:
When Aaron and Lorraine moved to Farmington and were in the midst of their journey with cystic fibrosis, we lived in Kaysville. We were simultaneously growing our family and struggling with the diagnosis of a son who has Prader-Willi syndrome. We remember meeting the Thatcher family at PCMC one time, when we were also there for our son’s medical needs. The Thatchers were in the midst of another one of their marathon hospital stays with multiple children. It was amazing to see their smiles and faith, and hear of their concern for us, even in the midst of their own difficulties and heartache. Even though they had plenty of health concerns for their own children, they could inquire about our son and his medical issues and really listen. That is their way. We have always been strengthened by Lorraine and Aaron, and the way they have approached their family’s medical issues with faith, patience, determination, and a positive outlook. Their example is truly inspiring and we thank them!
We have been thinking of and praying for your family, Aaron and Lorraine!! You’re faith makes us stronger and we love you for it!
Ellie and Jon Saltern & Family
As Aaron's family, we think he is the greatest and we know there are many others who feel the same way. He is a friend to all and sees the best in everyone. Our Big A is truly one of a kind. Aaron has always been a healthy guy and has never smoked a day in his life. When he became sick in January, we never dreamed it was anything serious. Multiple doctors told him it was Bronchitis. By March, he and Sweet Lorraine knew it was something more serious. X-rays were alarming and the biopsy showed Adinocarcinoma Lung Cancer. He will soon begin treatment. He and Lorraine, along with Kaitlin, Maddie, David, Brigham, Ella and Lily are asking for your faith and prayers.
Thank you for writing Ellie. Your family has meant to much to Lorraine and Aaron. And your right, this is just how they approach life.
