My Family and I moved to Farmington in 2012 and lived in my Fathers home as they were out on a mission; we were in the Farmington 20th ward at that time. I met Brother Thatcher as he was our ward’s stake high counselor. Once I introduced myself, he never forgot my name or my families. Brother Thatcher was such an inspiring man. He truly was a man of God!!!! I worked at the Huntsman Cancer Institute and worked closely with Dr. Akerley dealing with all types of Lung Cancer and especially Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer, conducting clinical trials. I only hope Dr. Akerley is going to be Aaron’s Oncologist. I have great respect for him as a physician and knows so much. I worked on a trial that was dealing with a new drug which was called Ciritnib (LDK378). I was amazed on the findings of this drug and hopefully it will be approved soon by the FDA. I know they are still conducting trials with this drug and hope that he may have a chance to have that as an option. Brother Thatcher always took the time to come up to me and shake my hand or embrace me to let me know how much he cared for my family and I. I only hope for the best and want him and his family know we are praying for him and how much he touched our lives. Good luck and may blessing pour from heaven for you and your family.
As Aaron's family, we think he is the greatest and we know there are many others who feel the same way. He is a friend to all and sees the best in everyone. Our Big A is truly one of a kind. Aaron has always been a healthy guy and has never smoked a day in his life. When he became sick in January, we never dreamed it was anything serious. Multiple doctors told him it was Bronchitis. By March, he and Sweet Lorraine knew it was something more serious. X-rays were alarming and the biopsy showed Adinocarcinoma Lung Cancer. He will soon begin treatment. He and Lorraine, along with Kaitlin, Maddie, David, Brigham, Ella and Lily are asking for your faith and prayers.
Thank you for the post. Aaron and Lorraine met with Dr. Akerley last night and we have new hope.
