Though I have not spoken to Aaron much during the past 20 years, I was fortunate to run into him at Chipotle in Bountiful about a year ago. It was as if we had just spoken the week prior. He was the same good, amazing, heroic Aaron. My wife, children and friends have all heard much about the famous Aaron Thatcher. The baseball Aaron signed for me on "draft day" in 1992 is still one of my prized possessions.I don't have a particular story to share (since I promised Aaron I would never talk about him water skiing at Lake Power in his underwear or share those pictures...:), but my memory is filled with countless experiences and impressions related to this great man. His kindness, strength and his genuine meekness are all things that I have admired since we were children at Providence elementary. I always took pride and confidence in being counted as one of his friends--not fully realizing then that his list of friends has always been VERY LONG indeed.Elder Maxwell often spoke of the "eloquence of example" and how such an example of Christlike attributes being lived and practiced by another is what radiates light for others, it is what inspires us to be better. I have never known anyone who is more Christlike than Aaron and I know of no greater compliment I can give my friend. Aaron and all of the Thatcher clan will continue to be in all of our thoughts and prayers.Ryan Jensen
As Aaron's family, we think he is the greatest and we know there are many others who feel the same way. He is a friend to all and sees the best in everyone. Our Big A is truly one of a kind. Aaron has always been a healthy guy and has never smoked a day in his life. When he became sick in January, we never dreamed it was anything serious. Multiple doctors told him it was Bronchitis. By March, he and Sweet Lorraine knew it was something more serious. X-rays were alarming and the biopsy showed Adinocarcinoma Lung Cancer. He will soon begin treatment. He and Lorraine, along with Kaitlin, Maddie, David, Brigham, Ella and Lily are asking for your faith and prayers.
Thank you for writing Ryan, it means so much.
