My memories of Aaron all revolve around Merv's berry patch. Every summer I would go work for my Uncle Merv Weeks in Paradise. I remember when Jeff and Aaron began working at the patch with us. I would be so disappointed if they didn't show up. I spent 3 months every year until my mission discussing every imaginable topic with Aaron and Jeff and Jarrod. For example, I remember his favorite songs in the 80's had to do with children: Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All," and "We are the World." That was the first time I learned that you could be a man and still admit to liking a song sung by a girl. I've since repented, Aaron. I also remember that Aaron was the first person I'd ever seen eat an entire box of cereal at one sitting. His capacity for food was incredible. I also remember wrestling with Aaron one time. I remember he let me beat him, but it was kind of obvious he wasn't trying. He was laughing hard as I madly tried to take down one of his legs (that's all I could handle). Countless fights about the Celtics and Lakers, Stockton and Malone, basketball and every other sport. Every time we played basketball I would ask him to dunk, but he wouldn't do it. I couldn't understand why someone would not show off his physical ability, if he had it. Aaron knows what modesty and integrity are.Just an indication of how I feel about Aaron. Aaron and Jeff will remember Merv talking about the great Kurg Belcher who played linebacker for BYU and then went to the Pros. Kurg was Merv's and my dad's ultimate sports hero. And now I talk about Aaron the way my dad talked about Kurg--a semi-mythical demi-god that none of my kids really believe existed, until they met him last year at Jarrod's 40th birthday party. Now they believe!I love you Aaron!
As Aaron's family, we think he is the greatest and we know there are many others who feel the same way. He is a friend to all and sees the best in everyone. Our Big A is truly one of a kind. Aaron has always been a healthy guy and has never smoked a day in his life. When he became sick in January, we never dreamed it was anything serious. Multiple doctors told him it was Bronchitis. By March, he and Sweet Lorraine knew it was something more serious. X-rays were alarming and the biopsy showed Adinocarcinoma Lung Cancer. He will soon begin treatment. He and Lorraine, along with Kaitlin, Maddie, David, Brigham, Ella and Lily are asking for your faith and prayers.
Love you Zeb!
