We completed our two week hospital stay today. Our kids love coming home, but it's always a little bitter sweet for them. They spend the drive home talking about all their nurses and techs and the pranks they pulled (the kids and the nurses:) and the nurses they missed seeing this time around and how they'll miss ordering things from the Kids Krew (they supplied them with a constant stream of silly putty, boondoggles, colored pencils, glitter, and survival bracelets). I'm sure they'll also miss eating BBQ chicken and Reese's Peanut Butter cups and rainbow cupcakes with whipped topping frosting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (yes you can eat that way when you have cf), and let's not forget the unlimited ipad time. I think it says a lot about a hospital when kids leave feeling they are leaving behind good friends and happy memories. I think it also says a lot about how resilient and accepting children can be. I had a conversation with Brigham not long ago about if he had the opportunity to be healed from cf if he would want to be and he said no he didn't need to. If he can roll with the punches and find joy in life despite his trials then I am going to do the same.
